''You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard . . .''

Though the movement presents it as trusting God, the idea that we can relax and let down our guard, accept any experience or spirit that is offered, and give in to our emotions, is not from God.

We know this because He has warned us repeatedly in His word to guard ourselves carefully and to be alert at all times. He has not promised to protect us if we disregard what He has warned us of again and again.

Need some convincing? Please look up and read the following verses- they are just some of the many places in the scriptures we are warned to be alert and on our guard -and remember, when God repeats Himself, we can be sure it is because something is important for us to know and is for our welfare.

Matt 24:4-5,11,24-25
Mk 13:22-23
Lk 21:34-36
Acts 20:28-31
Ro 16:17-18
1 Cor 16:13-14
2 Cor 11:13-14
Eph 6:18
Col 4:2
1 Tim 6:20-21
2 Tim 1:13-14
1 Pet 5:8
2 Pet 3:17-18
1 Jn 1:8

Dear friends in Christ, we do not know if these are specifically the end-times the scriptures describe, but they definitely share many of the aspects we have been warned of. Never before in history have the scriptures concerning the apostasy and its false teachers fit what was happening in the church so closely. Now is no time to set aside truth and the word of God as this movement would persuade, but rather to cling to them like never before.

Let us humble ourselves and whole-heartedly come back to God's good word, give it our renewed attention and allow it to ''richly dwell within us'' and ''perform its work in those of us who believe.''

''We are His people and the sheep of His pasture,'' (Ps 100:3). Let us find safe pasture, rest for our souls, and faithful direction once again where He has so carefully and lovingly provided for us- in His faithful word, the Bible.

''And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.'' Acts 20:29

''And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.'' 1Jn 2:28
