Along with prophecy and mystical experiences, visions are strongly encouraged and rewarded in the movement. Those who think they have seen visions are brought up to the altar to describe them and it seems one cannot question or object to anything that is shared. But the visions many report seeing sound more like New Age visualizations: Jesus skips through fields of flowers, dances, plays, deposits kisses and fulfills fantasies, becoming what each person wants Him to be. One woman claims He came to her as a 50's Rocker with greased-back hair, put on the juke box, and asked her to dance.
In their desire for everyone to love Jesus, they are promoting a Jesus who can be whatever anyone wants Him to be (the 'cosmic' as opposed to the 'historical' Christ?). He is the Great Therapist- here to heal your inner child.
Jesus is our healer and we would not begrudge anyone healing, but He is also a real person! And He is Almighty God. We are not free to take liberties with the person of Jesus according to what would make us feel good!
We ought to be scared to death to present a picture of Him that is inaccurate in any way. Someday all will stand before Him and give account for every careless word they speak (Mt 12:36). What would it be like to stand before Him and realize we led others into a false understanding of God through a vision imagined only in our own mind and having nothing to do with the real Jesus? This is something to gravely consider.
...and in the middle of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His breast with a golden girdle. And His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire; and His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been caused to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters... out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as a dead man. Rev 1:12-17
