The Person of Jesus Christ

In this chapter:
» The Focus On Youth

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being... And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us Jn 1:1-3, 14

Thomas answered and said to Him, ''My Lord and my God!'' Jn 20:28

As man is being promoted to the status of god, Jesus is being demoted; it is taught that, apart from the Holy Spirit's indwelling of Him, Jesus was just a man, no different than us. The focus has turned away from Jesus, Himself, and fixed on the Holy Spirit instead. They subtly twist the fact that the Christian has received the Holy Spirit to say that we are an ''incarnation of God'' too - that we are equal to (or soon will be equal to) Jesus. This is absolutely false and unbiblical.

''[The] believer is called Christ...That's who we are; we're Christ'' ''The believer is as much an incarnation as was Jesus of Nazareth''

''Say 'I am a God-man....This spirit-man within me is a God-man...' say 'I'm born of heaven- a God-man. I'm a God man. I am a sample of Jesus.'''

''God intends us to be like gods, he intends us to be like the Son of God. ... God has conceived in His heart of a plan to make a race of men that would live like gods on the Earth. He has conceived in His heart to have Sons that would live like His Son, the Lord Jesus lived... That we were to be on earth the extension and manifestation of God's life in heaven. ...When a person comes up and declares what Sonship is about, the religious community comes up and says 'blasphemy!' That's what they did to Jesus.'' ''The religious mind will always call this heresy. When the religious mind comes in contact with the revelation of what a Son of God is they will always say it is not right because it's too high.''  (14)

''..the Spirit of God spoke to me. And He said, 'Son, realize this: Now follow Me in this, don't let your tradition trip you up... A twice born man whipped Satan in his own domain.' And I threw my Bible clear out on the floor. I said, 'What?' He said, 'A born-again man defeated Satan... You are the very image and the very copy of that one.' I said, 'Goodness gracious, sakes alive... You couldn't dare mean that I could have done the same thing?' He said, 'Oh yeah, if you'd had the knowledge of the Word of God that He did, you could've done the same thing, 'cause you're a reborn man, too.'''

''Do you know what else that's settled then tonight? This hue and cry and controversy that has been spawned by the devil to try to bring dissension within the body of Christ that we are gods. I am a little god. ...I am a little god. Critics be gone!''

And the serpent said to the woman... 'you will be like God' Gen 3:5

This teaching of being or becoming ''like God'' permeates all of the movement's doctrines. Contrast the apostle Paul's attitude- he leaves no ambiguity that he is a sinner saved by grace and only God is God

...Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. And yet for this reason I found mercy, in order that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience, as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. (1 Tim 1:15-17)

The scriptures leave no doubt - there shall never be any more gods, nor anyone even like God:

...understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, and there will be none after Me.

I, even I, am the LORD; and there is no savior besides Me... I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides Me. And who is like Me? Let him proclaim and declare it... I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God...

I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me ... Isa 43:10-11, 44:6-7, 45:5, 46:9
