About this page

This Scientology front group is listed by the cult as one of its "social betterment" programs. The organization promotes the use of the educational principles introduced by the founder of the Church of Scientology, science-fiction author L. Ron Hubbard. Critics contend use of the material helps legitimize the controversial cult, and point out that the group's claims can not be independently verified.

Given Scientology's record of unethical behavior - condoned and encouraged by its late founder - this organization's infiltration of schools is troublesome, to say the least.

Scot Danforth, who oversees teacher education for the University of Missouri at St. Louis, said he searched a database of four decades of published educational research and could find no study on L. Ron Hubbard's instructional techniques.

"In my opinion, they are involved in the worst kind of deception. They make grandiose claims about the effectiveness of their methods and materials ... with data that has never been published in a legitimate educational research journal," he said.

The purpose of this website is to help explain the conflicts inherent within Scientology's efforts to forge relationships with education communities. We also want to equip parents, educators, and media with the tools to not only spot these front groups when they creep into town, but to question politicians, school boards, and principals who might knowingly or unknowingly support such intellectual fraud.

This site will soon grow to explain in detail the myriad of Scientology front groups whose aim is recruiting your children. Groups like ABLE, HELP, and Applied Scholastics attempt to distance themselves from Scientology in order to claim secular status. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Issues addressed range from spiritual and cultic abuse to contemporary theological and/or sociological concerns.

Apologetics Index also includes ex-cult support resources - including a directory of cult experts (CultExperts.org), up-to-date religion and cult news (Religon News Blog: ReligionNewsBlog.com), articles on Christian life and ministry, and a variety of other features.
