Five Percent is a splinter group of the Nation of Islam, "Five Percent" is also known as the "Nation of Gods and Earths." That phrase refers to one of the basic tenets of the Five Percent movement: blacks are gods and women are earths.

The Five Percenters are a splinter group that broke away from the Nation of Islam (NOI) in 1964, under the leadership of Clarence "Pudding" 13X. The name is derived from their belief that they are the chosen five percent of humanity who live a righteous "Islamic" life and thereby have manifested the "true divine nature of the black man who is God or Allah."

This group rather than the NOI was primarily responsible for disseminating, popularizing and reinterpreting the "Lessons" or teachings of Elijah Muhammad among the adolescent generation of the sixties in the New York metropolitan area. In the twenty-five years since, the influence of The Five Percent Nation or The Nation of Gods and Earths (as they are now known) has grown enormously-many of the lyrics in contemporary rap music make direct reference or strong allusion to Five Percenter ideology.

Members of this black supremacist movement are known as "Five Percenters." "Five Percent" refers to the belief that only five percent of all people knows and teaches the truth. Ten percent conspires to hide the truth. 85 percent of humanity is considered mentally dead and ignorantly destroys itself through vice and immorality

The movement calls itself "a culture" and "a way of life" and rejects being called a religion. It's teachings are referred to as "Supreme Mathematics."

Social science professor Yusuf Nuruddin of Medgar Evers College in New York considers Five Percent to be a black supremacist movement. The movement itself says it is not anti-white or pro-black.

  1. That black people are the original people of the planet earth.
  2. That black people are the fathers and mothers of civilization.
  3. That the science of Supreme Mathematics is the key to understanding man's relationship to the universe.
  4. Islam is a natural way of life, not a religion.
  5. That education should be fashioned to enable us to be self sufficient as a people.
  6. That each one should teach one according to their knowledge.
  7. That the blackman is god and his proper name is ALLAH. Arm, Leg, Leg, Arm, Head.
  8. That our children are our link to the future and they must be nurtured, respected, loved, protected and educated.
  9. That the unified black family is the vital building block of the nation.

  1. Philip says:

Jesus says that I am the Way, The truth and the Life and there is no other way to the father except through me? John 14 v 6.

  2. P says:

Right on! I truly agree with the uncompromised word of God. I have a family member that is a five percenter and I am trusting God for their eyes to be open to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior.

  3. LiLi says:

I feel that everyone has a right to believe any religion they feel works for them. I also feel that all religions can be up for debate, because all written religious text were written by man.

  4. wise says:

i believe in the nation of five percent dearly. i believe that us black people are the originators and should act like we are. I do not discredit christian or muslim ways of life but i believe as blacks were sent out on the slave trade boats we lost our ways of life now blacks believe in and trust what the conquors fed to us ie cristian and beliefs of there point of view

  5. Crown Knowledge King Allah says:

The Nation of Gods and Earths is a way of life that is by us and for us. Jesus said to judge a tree by the fruit that it bears; so black people I ask you where is the fruit from the tree of western christianity? Look at the condition of black america! Think if our anestors who were forced into this land and culture could see us now like dogs licking the feet of our masters! How can you trust your enemy for spirtual upliftment?

  6. dannyb. says:

Theologians describe God as "Always has been, and always will be. Never created nor destroyed"
Quantam Physicists describe energy as "Always has been, always will be , never created nor destroyed, only changes form." The human body, when broken down to its smallest pieces, atoms, we are all nothing more than big piles of energy walking around this planet earth. In my view every person, white, black, or otherwise, that is alive on this planet is a manifestation of God in Self walking around this planet. The principles descibe by the five percent are necessary principles set forth for the entire human race to succeed. Every person with the gift of life from God has a duty to carry out there life in a more God Like manner for the greater good of humanity.

The fact that God exists in every living organism on this planet is part of one of the best kept secrets of all time.

  7. melek-kohen says:

your comment is invalid, you say you dont discredit christian or muslim way of life and in turn say we were fed this by our conquerors. that brother is negating a stance which you do not have. five percent of a truth is a lie,if you really knew your HIStory you would know that we enslaved each other and still do it today through so called hip hop. You remain lost, look for Jesus he is looking for you. Don't be offended, you are wise enough to be a fool. Read Deut 28, then you will understand why man(all humanity) is in the condition that it is. Yeshua hadehrek, haemet, hachay! I agree with you both apostle and P. Baruch HaShem Adonai!!!

  8. Jafaar says:

You really need to step up apologetics against this group. They have been able to spread unchallenged because people have failed to step up and disprove their easily disproven racial theories and ideology.

  9. ChristianAllTheWay says:

Gosh, all 5 percenters out there I hope Jesus saves you.

  10. Makes Sense says:

ok. you are a 5 percenter! You don't consider yourself to be a religion rather a movement and you say that you were the chosen ones to follow the righteous "islamic" way of life yet you dont consider yourself to be a muslim. And also you are the only 5% that was chosen to be this way but what happens when you accumulate more people then it actually wouldn't be 5% of the population anymore. I am a black man myself but i think your thoughts on how black man is everything is rediculous. God does not have a color, a race, a shape, or a form, he is everything and anything.

  11. true believer in the one God says:

God made all men and women to be equal regardless of their race or ethnicity. While the world did begin in Africa, not all African are or were Black. Black is a color and while yes it is a beautiful skin color and peopke whith that skin color are or can be very beautiful people, God loves us all the same.

  12. Juan says:

i am of mixed race. my father is dominican, while my mother is french canadian. i have blood in me from ireland to lebanese. how would the nation of gods and earths view me? through much time could i not be ALLAH too, or does the absence of black skin on my body hamper me?

  13. Divine Asiatic says:

The Bottom Line is that until u study yourself and Know Yourself and where u come from you can never know who God is. THE Black Family where stripped of their way of life, language, and history. We study where we come from because that is the Direct Link to who our God is. We study Africa. The Pyramids, the civilization of Ancient Egypt, the Mayans, etc. All Holy Books are written by Men inspired by God. How can u be inspired by an element that is not of you from you and for you? Where else can life come from, but life itself. Eye am Allah(God), the Physical Reflection of My Source in all of its splendor. The remains of the First Blacks go back as far as 90,000 years. Jesus Died according to your gregorian calander 1,975 years ago. Juan your absence of Black Skin only impedes your ability to vibrate with our life source(The Sun) on a higher level(Sun Burn). Nature rejects that part that is not of it. U need only study and application of Gods way of living to become ALLAH. There are only 5% of the 5% whom are right and just, meaning to say that not 100% of all of the 5% are right and ezact. Just like you have back sliders in other understandings.

  14. God's Son says:

This is my question to the mant stars are there in the universe? What are the mysteries of the deep? How many black holes exist? How was the Earth formed and what day was it formeed? How was the first cell formed? Who laid the foundations of the world? You did not do that so it is ridicoulus to say that any man is God. You may be a god but you are not God. 5% who have you saved from death and hell? Who have you healed? When did you give sight to the blind? When did you save my soul? the answer is you can not do any of these things. To all of you, yes God did create the heavens and the Earth, both things seen and unseen. There is a distinction though, God is the Creator of all but not the Father of all. The Bible teaches us that in order to come into the family of God and Kingdom we must come by Christ. This is not a white man's religion nor a black man's religion. It is God's Word and I pray that while you seek some false truthnthat you will come to the real truth. I have studied many religions and cults including mormons, jehovah witnesses, muslims NOI, 5%, satanists,so called aethists, agnostics so on and so forth. They all have a distorted view of God and His Son, my Savior Jesus Christ. Christ died on the cross to redeem man from the curse of death. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. You see it is whosoever will believe, not 5% of 5%, 144,000 or any other man made number. You see most of these sects believe in secret knowledge that we are all oblivious to are just to ignorant to understand. I know what you are thinking, that I am decieved and that the Bible was written by man therefore it is subject to error so on and so forth. The heavens declare God's glory not man's glory. A man is created by God, the Sun is a star, not a man...the moon is a celestial body, not a woman...a child is a young human not a the way, open up a science book before you post nonsense and try to lead people astray...thier are more stars in the heavens than there are grains of sand on Earth. So why is the Sun in our solar system, and created man and women, the bases of your false religion, oops I meant lifestyle. If you really seek the truth humble yourself, fall to your knees, call out to God for the truth because you are following a ridiculous lie and you are in grave error. Remeber this brother, that just as heaven is real, hell is real also...these are your only two choices...Choose you this day who you will serve, will it be some man made rule thought up Elijah Muhammed and Clarence 13X, or will it be the One and True Living God.
