Janet was born in England and raised in Ireland (and truly is Irish in heart and nature).
I, Anton, was born and raised in Amsterdam.
We married in September, 2012, and are still very much in love with each other.
We tend to speak Denglish — a mixture of Dutch and English (nowadays with a few Spanish and Catalan words thrown in).
We are followers of Jesus Christ, trying to put into practice the two greatest commandments.
We try to love people regardless of their background, religion or lifestyle. Many Christians only seem prepared to love those who meet their own standard of moral excellence, but we believe that is not in line with what Jesus teaches us to do.
Our ministry is to help Christians and non-Christians alike move from a life of legalism to a life of grace and mercy.
Among other things we love life, good friends, excellent coffee, great music, spicy food (including home-made Mexican salsas), Spanish tapas and dishes, the cuisines of India, Indonesia and Suriname — and quality wine.
We believe in, and promote, religious freedom — including the right to compare and contrast religious doctrines and practices.
We denounce extremism — including the countless excesses found in various expressions of what passes for Christianity — and instead promote balance.
Both of us are dealing with long-time health issues: Anton has CFIDS — Chronic Fatigue and Immune Deficiency Syndrome 1, and Janet has Fibromyalgia (which feels like the same thing, with pain).
That’s why we’re not as active nowadays as we used to be.
In addition we publish several commercial websites on various topics. We also provide hosting services for a number of third-party websites.
Janet is a licensed social worker and counselor with an organization that provides shelter and other practical help to male and female victims of domestic violence.
